Sleep Philosophy

Sleep is essential for every living being. Even babies spend most of their time sleeping in the womb. Studies have shown that negative effects start to appear after 24 hours of no sleep, and dangerous behavior can be exhibited after 72 hours of sleep deprivation. Even getting fragmented sleep of 1-2 hours at a time can have a significant impact on your body. Sleep is crucial for improving brain performance, stabilizing mood, and boosting overall health.

There is a common misconception in the parenting world (and even outside the parenting world where adults might be afraid to have children) that having a baby = never sleeping again. I am here to tell you this is NOT true!

New parents often suffer from lack of sleep because newborn babies need to be fed every 2-3 hours. However, this phase is temporary and does not last forever. Babies as young as 12 weeks old can start sleeping for longer consolidated stretches at night. In many cases, parents may unintentionally interfere with their baby’s ability to learn how to sleep for longer periods of time.

At Peaceful Mountain Sleep and Behavior Consulting, we help parents to teach their children how to fall asleep and stay asleep through the night!

We use principles of human behavior including reinforcement, consequences, prompting, and shaping to make meaningful and impactful changes in the lives of the whole family.

We will dive deep into why your child is not sleeping, come up with a customized sleep plan for your child, and will help you to implement that plan!
